Canada has four seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall (autumn). The climate varies across the country due to the sheer size of Canada, and the fact that it is situated far north (above 45 degrees) and up to the arctic circle.
The west coast of British Columbia has a more moderate climate all year round with fewer extremes such as Quebec and Ontario experience. The middle of winter is freezing cold with snow in almost all places. Whistler gets a lot of snow and is a major ski destination through May, while British Columbia gets very little snow along the coast but a lot of snow which remains longer on the peaks of the Rockies. Eastern Canada has short, brutal winters with temperatures frequently reaching -20°C (-4°F) with up to eight inches of snowfall on some days between Jan and Feb.
