British Columbia :: Most Western province with a population of 4 million people. The Capital city is Victoria. Although only 5% of British Columbia is arable, the province still produces very well. Major ports facilitate export from the Pacific coast. The wonderful weather makes this province great for spending time in the great outdoors. Mining and logging and tourism are the main industries.

Ontario :: Most southern province in Canada with Toronto as the capital city. Most of this province has borders on the great lakes. This region is broken up into the South and the North. Most people live in the South along the shores of Lakes Erie and Ontario.

Alberta :: Located in the West with only one border on the USA, this is one of two landlocked provinces. Edmonton is the Capital and the main town supplying services to the oil sands and other resource based industries. Calgary is one of the provinces major towns and is known link for transport and the distributing of product.

Saskatchewan :: Named afer a river this prairie province has an estimated population of over 1 million. Major cities in this province include Saskatoon and Regina.  Some of the main industries in this area are mining, agriculture and energy. 

Manitoba :: With over 110 000 lakes this area is in great contrast to the province of British Columbia with the Rockies because of its rather flat landscape. Agriculture is a huge industry due to the fertile soil of the south and western parts. Tourism, mining and forestry are other big industries. The Capital city is Winnipeg and is home to the seat of government. 

Quebec :: This is the largest province in Canada and home to most french speaking citizens. The northern parts of the region are home to few people and this is where you’ll find the people who are native to this land. The biggest industries are aerospace, information, communication, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

Newfoundland and Labrador :: The islands of Newfoundland and the mainland of Labrador make up this beautiful Eastern Province. With a small population, most of whom live on the Island, this province contributes only 4% to Canada’s land area. The Gros Morne National Park has some good example of tectonic plates at work. Mining and offshore oil fields contribute to the areas economy.

Nova Scotia :: With the capital of Halifax and a total population of just over a million this province is the second smallest. With the sea close by wherever you are, this province is well known for its bays, shipwrecks and estuaries.

New Brunswick :: Most of this province’s land area is forested. With agricultural areas found in the Saint John River valley, the industry and the location of urban areas are as a direct result of the river systems. Fishing, farming and mining on the main resource based industries.

Prince Edward Island :: With the smallest population and area in Canada, located on the Gulf of St Lawrence with hills and beaches and forested natural areas this is a lovely little province with loads to offer those looking for a quiet, historical and relaxed lifestyle.
